Abbey Lee Kershaw goes over the edge

A South Korean brand called Lewitt recently launched its latest campaign with a video of Abbey Lee Kershaw, a prominent Australian model, committing suicide. The video by art filmmaker Ryan McGinley depicts a distressed Kershaw running down the street and desperately trying to break into a building. She ends up on the rooftop and makes her way to the edge of the building. She then lets goes of the rail and throws herself over the edge. We see her falling in several sets of outfits and, whilst we never see her hit the ground, the outcome is clear. Abbey committed suicide. The film is controversial for a number of reasons. Firstly, it was shot for a Korean label and Korea has the highest suicide rate in the world. Secondly, there have been a large number of suicides of people within the fashion and modeling industries, including Korean supermodel Daul Kim. The question is: is the video social commentary or social faux pas? Take a look and decide for yourself. Source: Jezebel
